Liberty Media and FIA (along with some drivers) would be too afraid to bring back the 500 and count it for points in F1. Move Monaco back to the 13th and then race in the 500 again with a special aero package. (let me dream)

Back when F1 cars actually sounded like something. Funny that JPM got to actually do NASCAR but Gordon never did F1, or even Indy. Gordon at the 500 would have been so cool.

From the days when a mistake had such total consequence, so race car drivers were a different breed. I respect anyone who can floor the pedal on an F1, Indicar or Hypercar in the rain at Le Mans, but this early era of racing had something just a bit more gladiatorial

The cars were the best ever. Nice, powerful, diverse, fast and of course, furious. Pilots were Alpha ones. It was better then than today.

For 500 miles, WOW!

This year was my first Indy 500 and I drove all the way up from Texas that night to watch it. 18 hours, stayed up a total of 36 hours just to watch the race (Woke up Noon Saturday, went to bed Midnight Sunday). Hearing Back Home Again, hearing the taps, ***feeling*** the flyover and watching one of the best 500s in history for the first time live was an unforgettable experience. I've already got tickets for next year and I'm gonna try and rope some friends into joining me. If you can go, GO! It's a beautiful experience.

Even since I’ve been watching this race the first was 1971 I was there and every year since either tape delay or live I hold my breath at the start.
